Welcome to Funkville
This site pays tribute to a music genre that took shape in the beginning of te seventies called funk. Funk was more repetitive and percussive than traditional R&B and the interaction between the musicians became more important cause they had to lock together as one tight unit. This site wil try to reveal some secrets of the funk.
Please note that this is still a beta site under construction.
Our team is working very hard to get the new-look site up and running : video-lessons are shot, original sheetmusic is constructed etc..
Finally we're hoping to get the new site up and running by the beginning of 2008.
In meantime you can check out some midis here. These are the sections that are featured in the new site :
step 1 : learn from the masters
Can you learn how to play the funk by analysing it ? Isn't funk about feel and intractivity with other musicians ? Sure, but you can learn a lot from the masters by checking out the classic funksons in midi format, listening to mp3 excerps and checking out the guitar and drumtracks.
step 2 : jamtracks : listen and download.
Funkville provides backing tracks in several funkstyles. Instrumentalists can jam over JB-funk, laidback grooves, synth-funk and so on..The tracks all have a classic songstructure so singers can come up with lysics and a vocal melody.
step 3 : record your own jams.
At this page you find a listing of the best free and budget midi and audio tools for recording your own tracks.
step 4 : upload your finished tracks
Sign up for funkville and become an upstanding citizen by uploading your finished tracks to the site. Other visitors can add even more tracks.
